Magnolia Springs State Park conducted a "Heritage Festival" on November 11, 2006 in celebration of the 75th Anniversary of Georgia State Parks.
The day started with the Millen Milers annual cross-country run followed by a Veteran's Day recognition ceremony.
On going programs began at noon. These included:
1) Kid's catch and release fishing rodeo.
2) Junior Ranger workshop.
3) Tree identification walks conducted by Georgia Forestry.
4) Bird walks conducted by Augusta-Aiken Audubon Society.
5) Civilian Conservation Corps at Magnolia Springs.
6) Genealogy workshop.
7) Camp Lawton museum tours.
8) Showings of an hour long documentary film on Magnolia Springs.
9) Hay rides.
10) Saw mill demonstrations.
A fish fry was held that night after which lantern tours of Fort Lawton were conducted.
